  1. The escape on the ship Vlora.

    Everything started from an end. 8 August 1991 the ship Vlora entered the port of Bari, with more than 20.000 Albanians escaping from the collapse of the communist regime. In those dramatic days, the Italian families helped them, welcoming Albanians as sisters and brothers in need.

  2. Operazione Pellicano.

    The Operation Pellican led by Italy allowed Albania to overcome the emergency, delivering food, medicines, clothes and primary goods.

  3. Destruction of the Mostar bridge.

    No words for war.

  4. The Albanian anarchy.

    From January to August 1997, Albania felt into institutional anarchy due to the collapse of the financial pyramids.

  5. Operazione Alba

    The Operation Alba allowed Albania to run the election and get back to institutional order.

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation is the Italian Government agency for the management of international development cooperation initiatives, from the identification and planning phases to the execution, from monitoring the activities to the transparent reporting on the costs. It has financial autonomy for grant initiatives of up to 2 million euros. For initiatives of higher amounts, it decides jointly with the General Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
